Aspiring screenwriters take note: Clark Slater's new release "Long Way From Home" has the feel, imagery and hook-filled melodies of a movie soundtrack. The songs are a tapestry of love, loss and memory, each interwoven with themes of home, however one defines it. Whatever the dwelling place: a lover, a dream, peace of mind, or music itself, Slater's warm tenor voice, clear and strong, leads the listener on an unforgettable journey. Standout tracks include the lead-off "Bring the Love", a song where Slater's cited influence of U2 is evident, the pretty and bittersweet "Memories of Us", with its ghostly imprints of reminiscence and the hook-filled breakout single "Getting to Know You" which speaks of new love's initial hesitancy and gradual determination. "Long Way From Home" is an audio love letter of accessible pop/rock, a movie soundtrack in the making that gets in your head, latches on and won't let go. Before going solo, Slater was a singer/songwriter/guitarist with the popular regional band PUSH.
